Pennsylvania System of School Assessment

Spring marks an important time in the school year as students prepare for the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA). These assessments provide valuable insight into student learning and help schools better understand how students are progressing toward Pennsylvania’s academic standards.

The PSSA is administered each year to students in Grades 3–8. It measures student achievement in English Language Arts and Mathematics, and Science for students in Grades 5 and 8. The results help teachers and schools identify strengths, address learning needs, and continue improving instruction.

*Make up Testing May 4th - 8th, 2026*

While the PSSA provides important information, it is only one measure of a student’s learning. Teachers also consider classwork, projects, and everyday classroom performance to gain a full picture of student growth and achievement.

Families can help students feel confident and prepared during testing by encouraging them to:

  • Get a good night’s sleep

  • Eat a healthy breakfast

  • Arrive at school on time

  • Bring their fully charged iPad

  • Stay positive and simply do their best

The Ridley School District appreciates the support of families in helping students approach testing with confidence and a positive mindset. With preparation, encouragement, and a focus on doing their best, our students will continue to demonstrate their growth and learning.
