October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Ridley School District, in conjunction with the Delaware County Public Schools Healthcare Trust, is encouraging employees to help spread awareness by participating in Wear Pink Day on Friday, October 16, 2026.
Employees are encouraged to wear pink wherever they are that day — at school or work, at home, during a morning workout, while running errands, taking a walk, or supporting their children at activities.
The goal of Wear Pink Day is to help raise awareness about breast cancer and promote the importance of regular self-checks, annual mammograms and continued efforts to find a cure.
According to the information provided by the Delaware County Public Schools Healthcare Trust, more than 300,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and more than 42,000 die from the disease. One in eight women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime.
