Memorial Day Commemoration

Ridley High School is honored to invite students, families, and community members to join us on Friday, May 23rd, at 10:00 a.m. for our annual Memorial Day commemoration. This special event is dedicated to honoring the courageous men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

The ceremony will commence with the solemn recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance and a warm welcome from Ms. Jamie Pena. Mrs. Kristen Schaffer will then present the history and significance of Memorial Day, offering a poignant reflection on its meaning for our nation and community.

Mr. Erik Hollingsworth will lead a recognition of the Murph Challenge, a tribute to fallen Navy SEAL Lt. Michael Murphy, highlighting his heroic service and sacrifice. Additionally, Mr. Hollingsworth will celebrate the enduring impact of Mike Amalfitano on our school community, honoring his dedication and contributions.

The commemoration will include a wreath-laying ceremony and a poignant performance of Memorial Taps by Keenan Blythe, paying tribute to all those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

Further honoring our fallen heroes, Mr. Breckenridge’s class will present a solemn "Tribute to the Fallen," reading aloud the names inscribed on the Ridley School District’s War Memorial. This touching tribute ensures that each individual sacrifice is remembered and honored with dignity.

All guests planning to attend are kindly requested to RSVP in advance and arrive by 9:45 a.m. at Ridley High School. The ceremony is scheduled to take place outdoors; however, in case of inclement weather, it will be relocated to the auditorium.
